Heard this lovely ghazal written by Arzoo Lucknawi, sung by Mehdi Hasan brilliantly, after quite some time. You can listen in too.
An interesting thing about the first word. It sounds like Mugham when you listen to the ghazal, but it actually is Mubham which means 'ambiguous'. The meaning becomes clear (or, the ambiguity clears) when you realise the meaning.

Thanks for posting the lyrics. It is a great song but some of the hindi words were not clear to me. I was quite fascinated by the use of hindi words in a ghazal. Just wonderful. Recently read a story in Urdu by Rajendar Singh Bedi. It too used many hindi words.

Arzoo apni dhun ka hai pukka
I feel it is Mugham .. sounds very close to Mogham used in Marathi which too means ambiguous... not sure though.. neither am an expert in languages..

Mugham or Mubham? In Marathi a word Mogham is used which means casual or by the way talk. Could there be another such word in Urdu?

Just a correction: it is not "dhoondta hai patta" but "dhun ka hai pakka", 'dhun' meaning tune. The phrase idiomatically means that Arzoo is stubborn and resolute.

In Urdu/Farsi Mubham means obscure or vague.
