Saw a brilliant performance of Bikhre Bimb, a Hindi adaptation of Girish Karnad's work. In a one act, solo performance, Arundhati Nag conveyed a range of emotions, from ecstacy to jealousy to helplessness. It's about a surprising twist to an acclaimed author's life story. The props used are very intelligent- a TV that carries a spitting image of the actor on stage, talking to her out of the idiot box.
Having seen a play after quite some time, I felt the impact was even better. A sidelight was the presence of Shabana Azmi at the theatre (Ranga Shankara). Bangalore seems to be picking up again as a 'playful' place, judging by audience number and reactions. Long live drama!

Arundathi Nag, wife of yesteryear great and a hero of Bangalore Auto Drivers - Shankar Nag, much remembered for his Malgudi Days!
Kannada has given quite a few brilliant actors like Shankar Nag, Ananth Nag, Suhasini (Karnataka's Shabana Azmi I call her) and musicians like Rajan-Nagendra duo or even Hamsalekha. But somehow everybody has been playing second fiddle to the Dr. Raj.
In case you understand Kannada, I suggest you to watch 'Muttina Haara' of Vishnu Vardhan and Suhasini, a movie of the late 80s perhaps. Suhasini might fall in your favourites' list as well after watching that :)
Is this the same as in Suhasini Mani Ratnam? Is she hosting a show on TV now?
Yes Sir, you are right. She is also the niece of Kamal Hasan if I am not wrong.
